BFT Hinge & Roller Replacement: The Miami Owner’s Guide

We stock and install BFT-compatible hinge and roller replacement parts across Miami, with most jobs running $185 – $420 installed depending on whether it’s a single roller set or a full hinge assembly on a heavy slide gate. Same-day service is available in most Miami neighborhoods when we have your part on the truck, which is more often than not for BFT slide gate hardware. You’ll usually notice the problem as a grinding noise, a gate that shudders mid-travel, or rollers that look flattened on one side when you kneel down for a look.

Here’s what matters most: BFT slide gate hardware takes a beating in South Florida’s salt air and afternoon downpours, and hinge and roller wear is the most common mechanical failure we see before the motor ever gives out. The good news is it’s also one of the most straightforward fixes we do, with a price you’ll see in writing before anything moves.

Which BFT Models This Applies To

BFT builds slide gate systems under several series names, and hinge and roller replacement spans most of them. The parts we commonly replace fit the BFT DEIMOS, BFT ICARO, BFT SUB, and BFT RIGEL slide gate operator lines, which cover a huge share of residential and light-commercial BFT installations throughout Miami.

One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: BFT rollers are not one-size-fits-all, even within the same series. The roller bracket bolt spacing and wheel diameter differ between the DEIMOS BT A600 and the smaller DEIMOS BT A400, for example. If you’re calling around for parts, have the model plate photo ready or measure the roller diameter in millimeters. We match parts by the operator model plus the gate leaf weight, because a heavier fabricated gate may have been upgraded to a larger roller set at installation. That’s the kind of mismatch that causes repeat failures if a generic part gets swapped in.

On the OEM versus aftermarket question: BFT factory rollers are well made but priced at a premium, and for many Miami residential gates a quality aftermarket roller with a sealed bearing holds up just as well at roughly 60% of the cost. We’ll quote both options and tell you honestly which one we’d put on our own gate. Calder Gate Repair Miami is an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with BFT, but we work on their hardware every week.

Signs Your BFT Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing

  • Grinding or squealing during gate travel. The roller bearing is dry or the wheel surface has started to pit. Miami’s humidity accelerates bearing corrosion, especially on gates within a mile of Biscayne Bay or the coast. Left alone, the roller eventually stops spinning entirely.
  • The gate shudders or jerks mid-travel. A flat spot on the roller means the gate rides up and slams down with every rotation. This sends shock load through the BFT operator’s gearbox, which is a far more expensive repair than the roller itself.
  • Visible wear on the roller wheel. Kneel down and look at the roller. If one side is worn at an angle or the wheel looks squared off instead of round, it’s done. We see this constantly on older DEIMOS installations in Hialeah and Westchester where gates run 20-plus cycles a day.
  • Gate sag at the leading edge. The hinge side is carrying extra weight because the roller side has dropped. You’ll see the gap at the latch side widen over time. This is the hinge and roller working against each other, and both usually need attention at the same time.
  • Rust streaks below the roller track. That’s bearing grease mixed with rust, which means the sealed bearing has failed and water has gotten inside. In Miami’s wet season, a failed bearing can seize in as little as two weeks once the seal opens up.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Miami, expect to pay $185 – $280 for a single BFT roller replacement including the part and labor, and $320 – $420 for a full hinge and roller set on a standard residential slide gate. If the gate is heavy, custom-fabricated, or the track itself needs truing, the price moves toward the top of that range, and we’ll show you why in plain language before any work is approved.

Every BFT hinge and roller replacement from us includes the new part (OEM or quality aftermarket, your choice), removal of the worn hardware, cleaning and inspection of the track and hinge mounts, lubrication with a marine-grade grease rated for South Florida humidity, and a final cycle test under load. You get the written quote before work starts, the invoice matches that number, and the parts and labor are covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within a year, we come back at no charge. No fine print.

DIY or Call Us?

Checking your BFT rollers is safe and worth doing twice a year. Walk the gate manually with the operator disengaged, listen for grinding, and look at each roller for flat spots or rust. That’s where we recommend a homeowner stop. Replacing slide gate rollers and hinges involves supporting a moving gate leaf that can weigh several hundred pounds, and if the track is misaligned or the gate shifts while a roller is out, the pinch point at the track is genuinely dangerous. We’ve seen crushed fingers and worse from DIY attempts on heavy slide gates around Miami.

If you’re in Brickell, Coral Gables, Hialeah, Kendall, or anywhere else in Miami-Dade, call (850) 821-3781 and talk to a live person, not a voicemail tree. Nico Alvarez will often take the call himself, and if it’s a simple roller swap, we can usually tell you the price range over the phone. Price in writing before anything moves, that’s just how it should work.
