Get your free estimateFAAC Access Control Installation: The Miami Owner’s Guide
FAAC access control installation in Miami typically runs $650 to $1,850 fully installed, depending on whether you need a card reader, keypad, intercom, or a full multi-component system. We stock FAAC-compatible boards, keypads, receivers, and power supplies in our truck, and most single-part swaps are done in under two hours. Most owners discover their system failed when a keypad stops responding after a heavy rain, or a card reader flashes red instead of green every single time. Miami’s salt air and afternoon thunderstorms are harder on access control electronics than almost anything else we see.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
We install and repair access control on FAAC’s home and light-commercial lines, including the E024S, E124, 402, 400, 391, 390, and the Slide 400 series. If you have a FAAC gate opener that’s paired with a RP2 or RP3 receiver, a Digikey keypad, or the FAAC XKPRED-X wireless keypad, we’re familiar with all of them. The quickest way to identify what you have is to check the small label inside the control box lid. It lists the board revision and part number, which tells us immediately what’s compatible. FAAC boards changed connectors across revisions, and one gotcha we run into in Miami is a homeowner buying a used FAAC board online only to find the ribbon cable from their older 402 doesn’t seat into the newer revision without an adapter. It’s a $35 mistake that costs hours. We’d rather you call before ordering.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question specifically for FAAC: we use OEM FAAC boards and receivers whenever the opener is under five years old, because the firmware and connector specs are still tightly matched. On older units where FAAC parts are backordered or priced steep, high-quality aftermarket receivers from brands like Nice or Erreka often work with zero issues, but we tell you which we’re quoting and why before we touch a wire. Independence note for clarity: Calder Gate Repair Miami is an independent service provider. We’re factory-familiar with FAAC equipment, but we’re not affiliated with FAAC S.p.A. or their distributors.

Signs Your FAAC Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad works intermittently, usually after rain. Water gets into the housing through a dried-out gasket, and the membrane contacts corrode. In Miami, this is a three-to-five-year failure pattern, not a fluke.
- Card reader clicks but the gate doesn’t move. The reader is sending a signal, but the FAAC board isn’t recognizing it. Usually a failing relay on the board, or the board’s memory got scrambled by a voltage spike from a nearby lightning strike.
- Gate opens fine from the remote but not from the keypad. That tells us the gate motor and receiver are healthy. The failure is isolated to the access control input, which is good news because it shrinks the repair scope.
- You hear a buzzing from the control box that wasn’t there before. A failing power supply or a shorted wire inside the box. Left alone, it cooks the board. We’ve replaced boards in Coral Gables and Westchester that died exactly this way.
- The system works on battery backup but not on main power. This is a transformer or fuse issue in the FAAC power supply, not a problem with your actual keypad or reader. Worth fixing fast because running on battery eats the backup in days.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we quote in Miami for FAAC access control work, parts and labor together:
- Single keypad or card reader swap: $280 to $490 installed, depending on whether it’s a simple FAAC-compatible keypad or a more involved multi-card system.
- FAAC control board replacement: $465 to $780 installed. This includes reprogramming your existing remotes, resetting open and close limits, and testing the full safety loop.
- Receiver or antenna replacement: $190 to $360 installed.
- Full access control system install (keypad plus receiver plus board wiring): $650 to $1,850, depending on whether we’re adding intercom, Bluetooth capability, or multiple entry points.
- Service call and diagnosis only: $89, rolled into the repair cost if you approve the work within 24 hours.
Every price is written down before anything is unplugged. You’ll get the number on your phone via text, and the invoice at the end matches it exactly. The labor is covered under our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails within a year, we come back at no charge, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
Fair question, and we’ll give you the honest split. What you can safely check: whether the keypad or reader has visible water inside the lens, whether the breakers are on, and whether the remotes still work. Those three observations narrow the problem down a lot and help us be faster when we arrive. What you should not do: open the FAAC control box and start probing terminals. The board carries live 120V at the transformer, plus low-voltage DC circuits, and a misplaced screwdriver cooks a $500 board in seconds. We’ve also seen homeowners permanently damage the ribbon connector on FAAC boards by reseating it at an angle. That’s a simple swap for us and a dead board for someone guessing. If it’s beyond the visual check, call (850) 821-3781 and we’ll have someone out to look.
FAQs
In Miami’s salt air and humidity, plan on five to seven years for the board and power supply, and three to five for a keypad that’s exposed to direct sun or rain. We’ve seen well-shaded systems near Coconut Grove last a decade, but that’s the exception, not the rule. Call (850) 821-3781 and we can tell you, from the condition of your unit, whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
Sometimes. If the only fault is a burned relay or a bad capacitor, we can often replace that component on the spot for under $150. But if the board has water damage or a fried logic chip, repair is throwing good money after bad, and we’ll tell you that plainly and quote you a replacement board instead.
Most single-part FAAC access control swaps, like a keypad or receiver, are done in one to two hours. A full board replacement with reprogramming runs about two to three hours. A complete new system, including new wiring runs, is usually half a day. We’ll give you a live arrival time and a before-and-after photo set when we’re done.
Yes. Our Miami truck carries FAAC-compatible control boards, keypads, receivers, power supplies, and wiring connectors for the common residential and light-commercial models. If we arrive and your part is a rarer item, we can typically have it from a local Miami supplier the same or next day. We also keep parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls onboard.
If your FAAC access control is down or acting unreliable, call (850) 821-3781. A live person answers, and you’ll get a written price before a single bolt moves. Price in writing before anything moves, that’s just how it should work.
